Way to kick the band Mike!!
@@genejoner7183 Thanks Gene… there’s nothing like kicking all the horns in the pants!!! 😳
Hello, what if I want to record other percussion sounds?
Damn, that sounded great!!
I’m a non reader in a bigband and this video helped me with the fantastic fills and drive that art brought to this song..cracking drummer👌👍
Thank you for the good video. I'm also thinking about buying ATV. I heard that cymbals and hi-hats break down easily. What is the durability or response of the drum? Especially, I'm curious about cymbals and hi-hat
May i know the carpets dimension plesae? TIA!
AABA, right?
I have pearl mimmic pro modul and i have plan to buy aD-S13. Could you tell me how to select trigger pad preset in pearl mimmic pro?
Start with the Roland PD-120 or 125 -aDrums setting, then fine tune from there.
@@MikeSnyderDrums Thank you for your answer.
I work at guitar center and hear a lot of different opinions on whether nylon tips or wood tips wear out electronic drums faster. What's your opinion? Does it matter?
I don’t think it matters, just use a new stick and dedicate it to eDrums. Any chewed up stick can cause damage to eDrums-chipped tips and chewed up shoulders.
How many PAD's and Cymbals I can add to the TD20 and what models supports in order to add to the TD20 ? Thanks Paul
Kick, snare, 4 toms, hi-hat (+control), ride (2 cables), 2 crashes, and 4 Aux inputs. You can get almost all Roland pads (and Roland style pads), except the new digital ride and snare, to work with the TD-20.
Can you do an update video?
Very helpful. Thanks!
I'm using this stick in normal drums
Dang! This thing is awesome!! Great video

One of my all time faves, never get tired of this beautiful song!
Hi Mike! Question: how much noise does this kit make without amplification? Asking since I live in an apartment building with neighbors... does the snare actually have an acoustic sound? Kick and toms? Thanks!!
Acoustic volume is like any other mesh headed kit. The drums do not have an acoustic drum volume because of the mesh heads.
@@MikeSnyderDrums Great! Thanks for answering a question i had too. Love the look/sound of this kit. does even the bass drum make a similar sound (to neighbours) than another electronic drum kit would make? As that bass looks mean (in a good way) like it would make a thud to neighbours too!
The ad5 wins for me.... Quality over quantity.... That entire roland kit sounds way way off to me.
Thanks Mike! Very helpful.
One question, why are they so sticky? No pun intended
Pun aside, are yours “sticky?”
He rushed the shit outta that in the beginning
Can you please do a comparison between he mimic pro and the ad5 modules?
Hi Mike - useful video thank you. I'm looking to get the expanded kit and wondering how much space I'd need - do you have any idea? Also second question, do you know if it is possible to record straight from the USB from the AD5 module into Audacity? I can do this on my current Roland TD-11. Thanks in advance.
Scott Fulton Sorry for the slow response, on the road in Japan right now. Maybe 6’ X 6’ or a bit smaller. The aD5 does not have audio via usb, you would use the analog outputs.
@@ATVcorporation Thanks Mike, appreciated. I presume you mean no audio via usb that means both ways, as I can also play the music from the laptop into the roland module and listen to that through my headphones plugged into the module. My laptop only has a shared mic in / audio out port.
The sheet music is available for much of John's compositions thru bprmusic . com. #bprmusic
What kit is being used in this?
SiREN2173 I can’t remember what symbols are used, but the drums are the DwMaple kick, snare, and Toms in the sound store. store.atvcorporation.com/en
Sounds great man. Some of the best sounds I've heard from the AD5! Nice bit of paying too.
The digital sheet music for this song is available at bprmusic.
Can you add sound samples to this unit for triggering?
Not for the TD-20 or the TD-30.
Terrific Song, We like John. The sheets for this song are available at the bprmusic site.
how much is the module and how much is the aDrums artist drums ? and does anyone know if all of this is available in Thailand ?
Thank you! Listen to this ordinary TD 20 ruclips.net/video/oHudm15EB5Q/видео.html
Hi Mike, can you tell me your Hihat settings at mimic pro? Thanks!
Frank Ritzenthaler - PM me your email on Facebook (MikeSnyder2) and I will send you the file.
Mike Snyder any chance I could get the file for all the settings as well?
Does the pads have positional sensing?
First off, no pad itself has positional sensing. It’s the module that has that capability. In the case of the Roland TD-10/20/30/50 modules, they are able to detect various distances from center mounted cone. ATV drums use three sedge-mounted sensors. The Roland modules are able to detect position with the sensor arrangement, but it’s not from center to edge. It’s correlates more to distance from the each of the three sensors.
Mike Snyder ok that makes sense. So i guess the better question should be. Does the ad5 module have positional sensing? Tia
No, it doesn’t. That said, I don’t miss it. The sound design is different than the modeled TD modules.
I thought atv toms were single zone. Yet, i hear rim clicks when connecting via midi to the mimic pro? Mike could you explain please? Single zone are almost a deal breaker for me.
Bruce, The toms themselves are dual trigger. The aD5, however, has single-trigger input. The aDrums function as dual trigger with the TD-20/30/50 and the Mimic.
Thanks mike!
Sounds great!! I like it!!!
Does the snare have positional sensing? Seems like there’s some confusion over whether there is or not across the Edrum community. Also, will the kit work with software such as Superior Drummer 3?
Mike, are you allowed to tell us if ATV has a plan of making direct outputs a possibility in the near future for the aD5 or or newer model?? (Probably a really dumb question, considering that the aD5 is brand new!!) That is the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on the aD5!! I love the simplicity, playability, and sound of the aD5 with the aDrums, but I need direct outputs brother!! Thanks Mike! I’m a huge fan of yours, by the way!!
Very tasteful drumming Mike!
In your opinion what is the best hi hat for Td-50? ATV or VH-13?
Hi Mike, I really appreciate your demo! This is my dream setup, which I'm seriously considering buying. I've got a couple of concerns though: 1) I'm 6'5'', so I'm worried that this kit will be far too small for me! Any thoughts?? 2) Does the mimic module have any nice jazz kits? I really like the couple of jazz kits I've heard on the ATV module, but I've yet to hear a comparable one on the Mimic. Thanks!
John Gurney - Hey John, It would be like you playing a be-bop sized kit. The rack tom will go a lot higher, no problem. The floor tom legs, depending on your preference, might make to a good height. FYI-The rack tom in the video is as low as it will go. The Mimic I had did not have a jazz kit, I don’t know their plans though. Let me know if I can help in any way!
Hi John, this might be a little late, but for anyone reading this and wondering the same, yes the Mimic does have a Jazz kit! I made a video using the Mimic Jazz kit for anyone wishing to check out how it sounds and compare with other modules etc. I also use the combo shown here of ATV cymbals with Mimic and they work excellent together, it's a great pairing for sure.
Hi Mike, two questions. 1. I know a cable snake is used to plug in the trigger inputs to the standard set. Does the expanded set with the extra tom and crash also go into this cable snake or do they go into the auxilliary inputs? 2. If this is the case, is it possible to play the set with cymbals in both auxilliary inputs? From what I remember about the setup video, there was a prompt for an extra tom and cymbal, but it specified it as a tom, not just an auxilliary input. (To clarify, i would play with three crashes and two toms as opposed to three toms and two crashes) Thanks!
Daniel Lavanier It has the third tom plus an additional two Aux inputs. (3 more total)
Daniel Lavanier Aux inputs can be any type, drum or cymbal b
Hey Mike great videos you have here! Will ATV come out with a 12" & 14" pad size as well.
I’m sure ATV will expand the drum lineup sometime. We just announced new 10”, 12”, and 17” China cymbals (all three zone). These will be available in April.
Will ATV come out with an update to get rid of the shotgun triggering? This is really a bummer for me because I am looking to buy a new module but as of right now even the Alesis doesn't have shotgunning. I know the ad5 sounds are better but as soon as shotgunning is introduced it just screams fake :( Please let me know if any round robin type tech is in the works so I know if I can make this purchase confidently.
SiREN2173 - when configured to match your playing style, the aD5 have the most realistic playing and sound of any module available, at any price. You have to play one to truly understand.
Way to drive that thundering herd!
Daryl Burch - Thanks Daryl!
After you play the ad5 module the td50 just sounds bad.
demonocus drumocus - Yeah, the aD5 is just great sounding drums!
Wow.... This module sounds terrible compared to the ad5 really obviously synthetic, i cant wait for my expanded kit to arrive, im just gunna build one good metal kit, and play it just like an acoustic, thats why i love ATV, my favourite company in the game right now. Incredible products at a reasonable price, and iv always wanted 360 triggering on my cymbals, and lucky for me the colour of the drums shells and rims are exactly what id pick being into metal mainly :)
Well done, Mike. Like what you're doing, subscribed.
Mike, just curious, how well does the side stick work with the aDrums and the mimic pro? The only reason I would even consider the mimic pro over the ad5 is because of the direct outputs. In my situation, I need the direct outputs. Thank you sir.
Neil Richardson - On the MP, the side rim functions just like XO-stick would on the rim, just with a feel more resembling an acoustic drum.
Mike Snyder with the mimic pro and the aDrum snare, does the passive wooden attachment still work like it does with the aD5 module? I know the aD5 is triggered by frequency. Does the mimic pro work in the same manner or do you remove the attachment with the Mimic Pro and have to play side stick with the stick laying solely on the rim as I’ve seen it done using the drum-tec drums? Thank you for responding to my questions.
Neil Richardson - No, it doesn’t function with the MP like it does with the aD5. The side rim sensing is controlled by the aD5 firmware.
Neil Richardson - you can leave it in place and use it just like you’d use the rubber rim alone.
Great kit. Are there more inputs to add extra cymbals etc?
Dan White - three additional inputs to this configuration.
Gorgeous kit! This looks (and sounds!) superior compared to the Roland TD-50kv, and is less expensive. I'll have to start saving money for this beautiful set, and I hope it will appear at some point here in Serbia.. I've seen that it can be pre-ordered in Europe (on Thomann and Drum-tec), but I live in a shitty country, so I would have huge costs in customs duty :/ Btw, excellent drumming!
Marko Marković Thanks Marco! In what country do you live? Always interested where people are from!
I'm from southeastern Europe - Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia)
